There are two types of universities in Germany – public and private. The public universities are funded by the federal government. While the majority of students opt for a public university due to affordable fees (almost free!), the private universities have their own merits as well. 1. Technical Universities in Germany (Technische Universitäten or TU)

2. Universities (Universitität)

3. University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule or FH)

Applied sciences universities offer a huge range of courses for practical studies. The focus is on teaching students to work in real time scenario of industries. The courses are designed to give hands-on experience about the professional world. Since the emphasis is on the practical aspects of a field, internships are an integral part of the program structure.

4. Arts college (Kunsthochschulen) and Academy of Music (Musikhochschulen)
